It’s time to relinquish your razor and say hello to hirsuteness — the ‘tache is back. Call upon your family and friends to sponsor your forays in facial hair and not only will you cut a dash with your new look but you’ll also be raising valuable funds to support the vital work carried out by The Prostate Cancer Charity.

You’ll certainly be in illustrious company — some of history’s most notable figures have cultivated splendid moustaches. Salvador Dali has an entire book dedicated to his, and where would the likes of Charlie Chaplin, Clark Gable and Errol Flynn have been without theirs? And not forgetting swimmer Mark Spitz, who bucked the sporting trend for shaving and went on to win seven Olympic gold medals with a furry top lip, prompting the entire Russian swimming team to follow suit. Just think what feats of derring-do you could achieve with yours!

Should you need help to grow your mo, fear not — there are numerous events planned and experts on hand to assist you. We recommend you pay a visit to Murdock, gentlemen’s grooming specialists with locations in Mayfair, Shoreditch, Liberty’s and a pop-up barbers shop at our very own No.1 Savile Row. During Movember they’re offering to trim and style you to ensure there are no hairy horrors walking around the streets of London – perish the thought. Drop in to our pop-up barbers shop, in association with Murdock, on Friday 27 November from 12-5 pm or make an appointment by calling +44 (0)20 7434 2001.

Here at Gieves & Hawkes, we’re particularly fond of a ‘tache with a twist — team our iconic flannel suit with a waistcoat, a crisp white shirt, bow tie and a pair of our Cordovan 1911 Naval brogues to cultivate the air of a dapper Edwardian gentleman about town. You can view our collections here.

Whether you twist it up, curl it down, keep it clipped or let it luxuriate, be sure to wear your moustache with pride and keep a stiff upper lip at all times.
