Classical opera met Savile Row style on Friday night as Mozart’s Così fan tutte opera opened at The Royal Opera House. Jonathan Miller’s contemporary production of the popular opera turned to Gieves & Hawkes to dress one of the male leads, Don Alfonso, played by William Shimell (pictured above). Kitted out in two beautifully tailored suits, one a navy double-breasted, the other a grey mohair, William was accessorised with perfectly styled shirts and ties.

The show will run until 17 February. According to the Royal Opera House, “Così fan tutte is a drama that sees two men test the loyalties of their girlfriends to breaking point. Part comedy, part tragedy, it is a wry study in love, manipulation and trust. Music by Mozart is in turn poignant and stoic, heartfelt and romantic, and includes several famous arias and ensembles you are sure to remember.”

With the finest tailoring from Gieves & Hawkes, a great score, a famous production and wonderful singers, this season’s Così fan tutte is as much a “must see” for opera lovers as for fine tailoring afficionados.
